Ester-C deal

March 7th, 2010

Ester-C tablets or fizzy powder (this is along the lines of Emergen-C and Airborne)  is Buy one, get one FREE at Fry’s right now.  There have been $4 and $5 off coupons published in the last few weeks for this product.  I got the fizzy powder to add to my OJ in the morning.  It was $9.79.  I got my 2nd pack free.  Then with the $5 off coupon, it was only $4.79.  And, many times the store will let you use another coupon since even though the other one is free, you ARE purchasing it from the store so I was able to use the $4 one as well so I only paid .79 total.   ***note, I never demand that the 2nd coupon be used for a free product.  I know that every store seems to be different.  In this case I would have been happy with $4.79 anyway so the 2nd coupon being used was just a happy bonus  :)

Free Frosty!

February 17th, 2010

For $1, you can purchase a key tag from Wendy’s that gives you a FREE Jr Frosty with EVERY purchase during 2010.  This appears to be valid at most AZ Wendy’s.  I think it’s worth a buck! Even though we only go to Wendy’s about once a month, that’s 11 more Frosty’s FREE from now to the end of the year!

Razor clearance

February 12th, 2010

At CVS last night, I noticed that several different types of razor cartridge refills were 50% off.  I went to 3 CVS’s and found the same thing.  They will go FAST, so bring your coupons and head to the nearest CVS!  Here are the current coupons out there for refills:

Gillette Fusion 6+ count  $3 off    (insert= P&G 1/17 Olympic Proud Supporter)

Gillette Mach 3, Mach 3 Turbo or M3 Power 8+ count  $2 off     (insert= P&G 1/17 Olympic Proud Supporter)

Hair Color at CVS–2 days left

February 12th, 2010

When I was in CVS yesterday, I noticed that Perfect 10 hair color was  on sale for 9.99 .  That’s a decent price, as it’s sort of expensive.  Now, we have coupons that just came out from Proctor & Gamble for $5 off Perfect 10.  So, now it’s $4.99.  Great!  EVEN BETTER….when you buy 2, you get $5 Extra Care Bucks ($$$ off your next CVS purchase), so it’s “like paying”  $2.50 each!  This only works if you have 2 coupons and buy 2 Perfect 10 hair color…..but I did get an extra Proctor & Gamble in my local area newspaper for free, so perhaps all of you out there have extras even if you don’t subscribe for additional Sunday papers.  This is good through Saturday night at closing (10pm in most stores).

Fry’s this week

January 28th, 2010

Now through 2/2 they are running a promo where you buy 10 items, you get $5 off.  I did 50 items yesterday to get $25 off and added coupons in.  I ended up with other things (like blueberries), so for 54 items I paid $37 but I actually got over charged $5 and got that back from Customer Service, so I really paid $32.  That includes 10 cans of Rockstar and 6 boxes of Capri Suns, among other things.  There are so many coupons out there for the products, that some items are free or close to free.    Here is a link to an article I wrote about the promo.  Of course, the easiest thing to do is to log in to Coupon Sense, click on the items you want to buy (tells you final prices w/coupons) and push print.  Coupon Sense does all the hard work for you and has the ENTIRE list.

Target diapers deal

January 26th, 2010

Okay, so the Walgreens diaper deal I posted below is pretty good!  But this is JUST as good!  Target has Pampers AND Huggies (including Pull-ups) for $8.99 a pack.  When you buy 3, you get a $5 Target Gift Card.  There are newspaper coupons for both Huggies and Pampers, so the deal is very much like Walgreen’s deal, except that the Target gift card won’t expire (maybe in a year?) and that it includes both brands.  I did 2 orders:  A pack of Pull ups, Easy ups (pampers brand), and a pack of Huggies.  I paid $23 something and then got the $5 gift card, so the next time around I  bought 3 packages of Pampers, used the gift card too, paid $18, and got another $5 gift card for next time I shop  Please note that I used $2 coupons for all the packs of diapers.  This deal at Target goes through Sat night, 1/30.

CVS and Walgreens decoded

January 26th, 2010

I get a lot of questions about CVS’s Extra Care Bucks and Walgreens Register Rewards.  Here is what it is:

CVS Extra Care Bucks

The ad may say, Buy Nivea body lotion for $5, get $4 ECB, it’s “like” paying $1

What it means:  You pay $5 at the register for the lotion, and get a coupon with your receipt for $4 off your next purchase at CVS.

A bonus:  You can use coupons from the paper, too!  So, if I have a $1 coupon for Nivea products from the Arizona Republic, I only pay $4 at the register and I get $4 off my next purchase at CVS, so it’s “like” getting it for free!

I like to take that $4 coupon and use it on another ECB item, so that I cycle through and pay less  out of pocket.  ECB coupons are good for one month.  So, only spend time on the best deals.  Not every deal that has an ECB attached is a good deal.  And some weeks are better than others.  So be patient and use those ECB’s when the time is right.

Walgreens Register Rewards

Very similar to CVS.  The ad may say, Buy this Nivea lotion for $5, get $4 RR, so it’s “like” paying $1.  At the register, you pay the $5 (or if you have a coupon, even less!) and get the $4 off your next purchase.

Differences:  The RR coupon is only good for 2 weeks.  You CAN cycle through them, but you can’t have more coupons than products.  So, if I try to take that $4 RR and use it on a Huggies deal (like buy Huggies for $9, get $2 RR back), I can’t use the $4 and a Huggies coupon from the newspaper.  That’s 2 coupons and I only have one product in my cart.  But, if I add a pack of M and M’s or something, now I have 2 items and can use the 2 coupons.  Another difference is that CVS limits you how many times you can do a deal with your CVS card, but Walgreens doesn’t have a card so you can do several transactions (be curteous though).
