I get 3 newspapers each Sunday ($18 subscription ea month), plus I get a some in the mail like you’ve probably noticed, so sometimes I have 4 coupons for certain products. CS cost me $15 a month (figuring tax) so….for $33 a month, this is very worth it to me. The things above are just things I recalled off hand….I’m sure there were many more deals I just didn’t think of without the receipts in front of me. Plus, of course I also get things like milk and produce that CS greatly helps with finding the good deals….but I only listed the coupon deals above.

Okay, so my hubby has been out of town a lot lately, and the kids have been sick off and on… grocery shopping has been a bit of  a chore (for the first time ever!  I usually love shopping!) So I decided to try grocery delivery from Safeway.com.  I did a little happy dance this morning when the truck pulled up!  (Phew, no vid of the dance ha ha)

I just went online yesterday to http://www.Safeway.com/blogoffer and took about 20 minutes browsing and putting items in my cart.  Then I picked delivery for today, between 10-12.  They came at 10:30 as planned, delivered my groceries from a truck (has refridgeration!) and I just had to put the groceries away.  No lugging 4 kids to Safeway!  Thus the happy dance!

A few things I learned:

1.  They don’t take manufacturer’s coupons yet.

2. You still get the sale prices on items!  But sometimes it doesn’t come off until the end, so your total may seem a little higher than it would be.  An example is, Betty Croker Fruit rollups this week are $1.99 ea, but when you buy 4 you get an extra $4 off, making them .99 ea.  The $4 comes off at the register, so you won’t see that discount until the delivery person arrives with your items….but trust me it works!  :)  I’m all about my savings 

3.  You can pick different delivery times/days based on your schedule.  Some times are cheaper than others.  The delivery rates range 6.95 to 12.95.  BUT in my opinion, it’s worth it.  They actually go around the store picking out the items you want, weighing produce for you, basically go through the checkout line, and deliver it to your door.  Just pick the $6.95 time slots and that is well worth it!

Safeway wonderfully gave me 2 gift cards so I could try out the service and let everyone know how it went! I was introduced to City Deals awhile back and wanted to pass on the word.  There are some good deals in there! I check it every now and then for restaurants near me for discounted gift certificates.

Note in the fine print that you must friend them first, then print out the facebook page that talks about the coupon.  Then enjoy!

I’ve fallen in love with Groupon….where there is a daily deal offered by a restaurant or company in “your” city. You have that one day to purchase the deal, and most of the time you have a year to use it. I’ve bought restaurant groupons, salon groupons, one for the race track, one for whale watching in Seattle when we go there, etc. It’s been great. For those of you who DON’T know what Cow Appreciation day is, I will tell you so you can start moo-ing every year at this time!
Chik-fil-a has a day (this year, July 9th) where you can get a free combo meal (any one!) if you dress like a cow. We’ve done it for 4 years in a row and my kids love it. It doesn’t have to be elaborate! Although some people DO go all out! Here’s what we do/have done:
1. Take white t-shirts that are old or have ripped a little that we don’t care about, and paint black spots on them.
2. Once, we took black shirts and cut out circles of white paper and safety pinned the circles on the black shirt.
3. We make paper ears (imagine an indian headband from first grade with feathers on it….only ears) and paper tails that we staple to the back of the shirt to hang down like a tail.
4. We wear pants/shorts that are black or white.
5. The kids usually paint their faces with old halloween paint or smudge my mascara on their faces.

They are at the age where this is fun, and YES, my husband and I dress up too (although my husband has refused the tail). We all eat completely for free. Now, if you don’t do much, just wear black and white or something simple, you can get a free entree. But if you do like we did at least, you will get a free combo meal. And in case you are wondering if the place is packed…we always go for dinner and it’s not. I can’t vouch for lunch time though.
