Summer is coming up…

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

And the kids will be out of school.  Let me guess…they will eat more and have their friends over, and all together you will be eaten out of house and home.   Plus they will use more products such as sunscreen, bug spray, toilet paper (sorry, they will), paper towels, tissues, soap, and of course, tons of FOOD!!!

Here are some things to start stocking up on using coupon sense in the next few weeks to gear up for summer.  The manufacturers know to lower prices on these items, so it works out.  Just wait for the good sale!

  • Totinos pizza rolls
  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • String cheese
  • Otter pops
  • Popsicles
  • Soda
  • Kool aid
  • Ice cream
  • Cereal
  • Hot pockets
  • Single-serving pizzas
  • Bananas
  • Chicken nuggets
  • Frozen kids meals
  • Sun screen
  • Bug spray
  • Batteries
  • Pop tarts
  • Salsa
  • Chips
  • Velveeta
  • Laundry detergent
  • Ground beef
  • Hot dogs
  • Fast Franks
  • Bottled water
  • Mini carrots
  • Ranch dressing
  • ketchup
  • craisins
  • mac n cheese
  • mac n cheese singles
  • Powerade
  • Gatorade

The key words above are; wait for the GOOD sale!  And try to pair up the items with a coupon to make it an even better deal.  Luckily, Coupon Sense does all that for me so I just click on items I want.  Being prepared at the beginning of summer will really help you save in the middle of summer when the prices won’t be quite as good.

Wow! Time to go out!

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Restaurant.com is having their big sale again….$25 gift certificates for only $2!  I’ve used these many times.  Just put in the promo code DINE and hit apply on the last page.  This sale is through the 28th.  They don’t do this steep of a discount very often, so take advantage of it!

Most of the restaurants say you need to spend $35 while you are there.  So, for example, my family at at Altitudes in Flagstaff last weekend.  I bought a restaurant.com gift certificate for $4.  Our total came to $38 (which met the $35 requirement).  I gave her the certificate and she adjusted our total to $13ish.  If you add the original $4 into it, it’s like we ate out for $17 for the whole family of 6!

After you print the certificate, it’s good for a year.  You can go once per month to a given restaurant.  (So, you can’t just decide to go out to lunch at the same place every day and get the huge discount. )  But you can go to someplace different each day!

I’m loading up on my certificates!  See you there!

Do you Esave?

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Fry’s and Safeway both have eSaver from Proctor and Gamble.  It just takes a few minutes, and you load EXTRA savings on to your club card.  Just click below:

http://www.pgesaver.com/Sites/PG_eSAVER/Page/HomePage/?src=pgeds

After you finish the steps to register, you pick the items you want extra savings on from a list.  Then, next time you shop, you save extra.  Example:  Gillette shampoo is $4 on sale.  I loaded a $2 eSaver so I get $2 off.  I can use a Sunday paper coupon too….so with the $2 newspaper coupon it ends up free!

I look at it as a bonus….I’ll load up the savings then I might be pleasantly surprised when I get the extra savings at the store when I’ve forgotten I loaded something.  :)

CVS deals through 1/31

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

A couple that stand out to me:

Pepsi Deal (a little different from last week)

Buy $20 worth of PepsiCo products, get $10 Extra Care Bucks (basically a coupon for $10 off your next CVS purchase). Combo idea:

3 12packs of Pepsi = $10
2 Stacy’s Pita Chips= $6
2 Lays Chips=$4
Total= $20
use 2 coupons from last Sunday’s paper for $1.50 off Stacy’s chips, bringing the total down to $17. So you get all that above for $7 after ECB’s are figured in! Not too bad!

Huggies Deal:

Not a jaw dropping deal on the diapers, but it works out okay for the wipes & baby wash!

Buy $20 of participating Huggies products, get $5 Extra Care Bucks.

In the Smart Source insert from January 11th, there were coupons for Huggies wipes and wash. Here’s an example if you get at least 4 Sunday papers each week:

4 Huggies wipes=$10
4 Huggies baby wash=$10

Use 4 wipes coupons and 4 wash coupons for a total of $6 off your order. That’s $14 then. Figure in the $5 Extra Care bucks and it’ll be $9 for all 8 items. Pretty decent!

Gillette Deal:

Buy Gillette shampoo or Pantene Restoratives for $4.99, get $3 Extra Care Bucks. Basically makes them $1.99. But we have coupons for $2 off one Gillette that were published Jan 18th. So they are FREE! The best part is that you can do this for 5 shampoos (if you have 5 coupons). OR you can purchase Pantene restoratives and use the $3 off 2 coupon that we got on Dec 28th. Makes them .49 ea. It’s important to note that you can buy 5 TOTAL, mix or match. Not 5 of each kind.

CVS this week

Monday, January 19th, 2009

PEPSI deal:

Buy $20 of PepsiCo products, get $10 Extra Care bucks (instant coupon for $10 off your next order)

I bought:  5 12 packs of Pepsi & Mt Dew plus 4 2 liter bottles, which was exactly $20, then got the ECB

CLARITIN deal:

Buy one package of Claritin Liqui Gels 24 ct for $19.99, get $10 Extra Care Bucks.

I bought this exactly, plus used a $1 off coupon I found near the Claritin on the aisle.  So I paid $8.99, good deal for this expensive stuff. PS.  You can get 2!

MAYBELLINE Deal:

Buy 2 Maybelline Mineral products, get $10 Extra Care Bucks.

I bought:  2 mineral powder (like loose powder foundation) things for $9.99 each.  We have $3 off coupons from the newspaper a couple weeks back.  So I paid $13.98 for the makeup.  Then I got the $10 ECB.

ALLERGY MED deal:

Buy a 5ct CVS Allergy Relief medicine for $3.79, get $3.79 Extra Care Bucks.  So it’s free!  Plus you can get 2.

There are a few more deals out there, and FREE deals from their monthly book, but these were my favorite.

Jo-Ann’s Fabric & Target

Monday, January 19th, 2009

They have Christmas clearance at 90% off!  Prices range from .04 to 29.99, normally .40 to 299.99.  Things will go fast!

Also, Target has their annual toy clearance going on.  There is usually an aisle or two in every store dedicated to toy clearance.  Right now select toys (lots of them) are 50-75% off.  If you have birthdays to buy for soon, run, don’t walk, to Target!

Juice at Safeway!

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Buy 5 participating juices in one transaction, get an instant $5 off.  There are SO many juices on the list.  Here’s the ones I’m buying:

  • Juicy Juice is only .50 after promo & coupon from last Sunday’s paper!
  • Ocean Spray Cranberry Coctail is FREE with coupon published Sunday, Dec 7th.
  • V-8 juice (including fusion) is 1.00 after coupon from last Sunday’s paper and promo.
  • Tree Top juice is only .50 if the Trim kind is on sale–won’t know until I get to the store!  After cpn from last Sun and promo.
  • Cranergy is only $2 –great price–we don’t have any coupons, but there were blinky machines in some stores a couple weeks ago for .55 off….if you grabbed a couple to save for later, use them now!
  • Langers Juice is 1.50 and 2.00 depending on the variety….sometimes they have neckhangers on them for $1 off of 2 so keep your eyes peeled for any!
  • Welch’s juice is $2 for the good varieties my kids like.  I know we don’t have any coupons (we do have coupons for the 6packs but I don’t think they’ll work for this promo) but it’s a decent price to stock up on a few if your kids like this.

While you’re there getting juice, maybe get these too:

  • Nature Valley granola bars are 1.50 with the in-ad coupon (there are two ads going, so check both), but use the coupon from last Sunday and pay only .50!
  • Sobe Life Water is $1 each, but at my Safeway there were .50 off coupons around the necks, doubled making them free!
  • Tyson Chicken breast–the chopped up, cooked kind in the meat section for adding to salads and noodles, etc–is B1G1F, plus we have coupons from last Sunday, so you get two packages for $3.  A great price for that kind of Chicken.
  • Skippy Peanut Butter is .69 after in-ad coupon and coupon from Nov 16th.
  • Lucerne string cheese is 5.99 with in-ad coupon for a 36 count package!!
  • Milk is only $1.58 per gallon.
  • GREAT deals on meat–75% off regular price of boneless pork and select  beef cuts.  Stock up time!
